Nexo Alpha complete system: Racks, Stacks, and Flyware
AVP is selling its Nexo Alpha system. We really love this system and are sad to see it go, but it's time to consolidate rigs in to a larger, more flexible system. The Alphas are my favorite point-source system of all time. They get devastatingly loud and sound good doing it; in the years we have owned this system, it has gotten consistently excellent reviews from bands. In the time we've owned it, this rig has provided for Naughty by Nature, Salt n Peppa, Rick Ross, and a number of other hip hop artists who demanded big sound and were satisfied for audiences of around 4,000 people indoors. We regularly use a single stack per side for shows up to about a thousand people in tents, fields, and large clubs.

All components of this system are in 100% working order. We purchased this system used several years ago; it's still got some of Randy Frierson's stickers on it, as he was a previous owner. Excellent Nexo voltage monitoring has meant we've replaced very few drivers in this system, but when we have they have been with original Nexo parts.

The entire rig received new NL4 and NL8 jacks last year; turns out, the plastic jacks that came with it could be broken by inexperienced hands. New Neutric jacks have metal locking keyways that go together with a satisfying 'click.'

Nexo occasionally referred to this collection of cabinets as "a block," with three M3, five B1, and two S2 per side. The top half of the block can fly, with the X-bows allowing for various splay angles between cabinets.

This is a four way system, with the following components:

6 @ Nexo M3 Mid-High (Two have M8 wide lenses installed, but we have the M3 lenses)
10 @ Nexo B1 Bass modules
4 @ Nexo S2 subwoofers
6 @ Nexo X-bow fly frames
1 @ Spare mid driver
All related flying hardware - hinges, X-links, etc. One hinge and a few X-links have been replaced with fabricated L-track components built and tested by an industrial rigging supplier here in Richmond.

We also have a box of reticulated foam cut to right size for replacement when needed. About half the foam still has the Alpha logo, half has been replaced.

There are two amp racks, each with:

2 @ Nexo NX242 Digital TDController
1 @ 50a rack pack distro
4 @ Camco Vortex 6 amps
1 @ IO panel

We will include NL4 and NL8 cable appropriate to this rig, though the longest (for the far side of the stage) are about 75'. Everything you need to ground stack; you'll need longer NL8 to fly. Speakers are gray carpet. We'll take a tack brush to them to clean the dust out before shipping, but there are very very few nicks in the carpet.

Inputs and outputs of amps and processors are CORRECTLY wired. This means you can switch to other Nexo cabinets simply by selecting the right speaker family and plugging in to the correct speakon jack. When we purchased this system, the previous owner talked us through re-wiring the rack for different speaker families; that has been corrected. It also came to us with internal jumpers on the sub amps set to bridged mono, meaning the two subs on each side of the stage were always out of polarity with each other. The rig now operates perfectly, and sounds (obviously) much better than the day we bought it.

The 50a rack packs have L14-20 pigtails on them, which we use on smaller jobs for stage power.

Sold as a complete system. We will consider parting this system out if and only if we get interest in all components. So feel free to email me any pieces you're interested in.

This is the best ground stack point source system I've ever worked on, and it has made me a dedicated Nexo customer. We just do more corporate than concert these days, and it's time to make a change. I will miss these speakers, especially the S2 subs which, in my opinion, are among the greatest subwoofers ever made. In fact, if someone needed the whole rig except subs, that'd make my day.

We're looking for something in the $45,000 range for the entire rig, ready to go. Add fifty amps of power, and you're making beautiful noise. Of course, we'll entertain any reasonable offer, so get in touch.

Re: Nexo Alpha: Racks, Stacks, and Flyware

I'm anxious to get this sold. I've had lots of interest in the VRX system, but I've been dragging my feet there as I need to move both before I can re-invest in new toys.

To that end, I'm relatively flexible on price. I know what all of the individual components sell for on the used market, and priced fairly competitively based on that. But in order to move the whole thing as a lot, I'm more than willing to entertain offers. I'd also be happy to toss a few bucks to anyone who gives me a lead that pans out.

Questions I've received:

1) Are caster boards included? Yes, I have enough caster boards to move the system stacked three units tall, which fits through a truck door. I am just a few short on shipping it two tall, which is a little easier to manage and fly. We have a scene shop and would be happy to build more caster boards if needed.

2) What cabling is include? 2 @ 75' NL8, 2 @ 28' NL8, 2 @ 4' NL8, 14-16 @ 3-6' NL4. Rig jumpers together with a pair of NL8 per side from the racks.

3) Do you have the lift rings for the X-bows? Yes, two yellow lift rings with adjustable chains are included in the rigging kit.

4) How does that fly? Flies in a block three wide by two tall, with three tops and three bass cabinets per side. You can fly it in other configurations, too, but there really aren't enough cabinets to hang it in a line. Plus the driver spacing would be pretty weird for that.

So, I've gotten some emails and questions, but nothing firm. A few people want the subs, but so do I. :) So let's assume that subs aren't going to part out, but the rest potentially could.

Thanks!
