I am traveling to a couple of cities on vacation

And would love to meet up with others from the forum.

Indianapolis - Monday, the 26th at the Slippery Noodle
Milwaukee - Wednesday - Sunday, the H-D anniversary party
Chicago - Monday, Tuesday , sept 2-3, museums during the day

Any suggestions for places to hear some music in Chicago

I think that's something that only other people have.

Mind you, yesterday my FOH was setup next to a beach for a mini festival. It was a sunny day. No acoustic reflections to worry about, etc.
All we had to put up with was having to share the backstage area with the burlesque act that was on after us.
That certainly didn't feel like work!

Because you mentioned museums the first 2 places that come to mind are Buddy Guy's Legends and Reggies Rock club. They both have music pretty much every night and neither are very far from The Field Museum etc. There's also the Jazz Showcase in the old Dearborn station. I don't know much about it but it looks like they have a free show with the inimitable Wayne Messmer on the 3rd. What kind of music are you looking for? Biker music?

Thanks. I like lots of styles but blues and country are current favorites. I did go to a Fleetwood Mac show recently.

Re: I am traveling to a couple of cities on vacation

Once a year I go off and act like an irresponsible biker dude and wear out some tires.

Rob,

Some years ago I went on a short float down the Colorado (near Moab, UT) with some friends of friends who also enjoyed getting on their Harleys now and then. Two attorneys and a judge, as I recall. They had black T-shirts emblazoned with "Born To Be Mildly Irresponsible". I often have employed that phrase when I'm about to do something, well, mildly irresponsible.

Have a great trip.

Check out Mr Blotto, Tuesday nights at Reggies for "Tipsy Tuesday". One of the Midwest's great under-appreciated bands-great players, great song writers. I think they'll be a good fit if you like blues and country, with a little Allman Brothers jamming thrown in.

Check out the Underground Wonder Bar, Rosa's, Buddy Guy's(although touristy at times), Kingston Mines, or Artis's Lounge. Should be a jam Monday night at the Underground.

I'll be around, but two family birthdays on the second means I'll be hanging in suburbs grilling and having cold ones. You're welcome to stop by though.

Best regards,

John
