I got into sound when my stepdad brought home the earthquake effect he was working on for a play at the Charlotte Colosseum in 1973. We have Altec 604 based monitors with JBL subs and phase linear 700s (plural) in our living room. Needless to say at three years old I thought the world was coming to and end. I fell down a flight of stairs ( I went to the hospital) and went screaming into the room- to see dad hit something on the thing with the turny wheels on it (10.5 inch reel to reel) and it stopped. I stopped to- toddled over to the machine and noticed one of the buttons was bigger than all the rest and blue, so I pressed it. It started again and right then I knew what I would be doing with my life.
