New DIY Mid High (90deg) - AKA PM90

Yes - six amplifier channels required if the passive xover is not used.

    B&C DCX464 vs DCX 354

Most large format compression drivers will play down to 1kHz. You do not need the lower frequency response capability (300Hz) of these coaxials as you already have this range covered by your midhorns.

    Circular Systems

Which particular aspects of them, and for what reason? Further, is there one area of traditional systems that is your main focus of interest/improvement?

    Series or parallel connection

Riley, I almost posted a very similar answer regarding this resistance seen by each series connected driver but bottled out at the last minute, as I remain unsure whether or not back EMF nullifies this problem. Your thoughts?

    Series or parallel connection

Connecting in parallel will not result in complete silence if one driver fails! 16 ohm drivers are fairly rare beasts so this might ultimately drive your decision.

Impossible sound installation? DIY project needs expert assistance

It would be considerably simpler to employ electronic filtering before the amplifiers instead of using passive filters after them.

    Door?

Another option would be to find a drummer who can play with subtlety, rather than putting the loud one in a Perspex prison! ;)

    Door?

If the room itself is largely built of plexiglass then you won't need much of a door to match its sound reduction. Is this the case?

New DIY Mid High (90deg) - AKA PM90

Having read the thread in its entirety, I would suggest that the best drivers for this design have already been selected, the only real choice remaining being between BMS or B&C coaxials.

250 cap venue for "bass heavy" music... will a 2x18 do it proper?

Remember you don't have 8000 'real' Watts available from your amp, and it's likely to collapse on sustained LF tones such as dub reggae. Probably ok on most normal music but if you are keeping this amp I would consider four 18s, one on each channel which would probably be a little kinder on the...

60 Degree DIY Mid Hi - AKA PM60

Derick, you cannot achieve 4-way stereo filtering on the DCX2496; I use two separate units in six-channel mono mode fed digitally by a DEQ2496, but my system is 5-way so I had no choice within my budget. Alternatively you can use the passive crossover for the BMS to make it effectively a 3-way...

    Soundproofing a wall

Mass is better than nothing, but you will be disappointed with simply plugging up the gaps with solid wood. Mass Law states that attenuation is only approximately 5db for every doubling of wall mass for a single skin wall. Any partition wall with a mechanical link (eg. plasterboard nailed each...

    Soundproofing a wall

Even if you can build an isolating wall, you must consider flanking (structure-borne) noise first as this is very difficult to treat and can negate any wall improvements particularly regarding impact noise. As Rob suggests, it's not as simple as adding a bit of mass and there is very good...

    X32 Rack Matrix Phasing Issues

Sounds almost like a speaker phase issue.

    Gymatorium Sound System Design

If the budget permits, your multiple system approach should be a winner. The calculation of the most important 'critical distance' (that imaginary line where direct and reverberant sound levels become equal) is quite beyond me, but I know it to be, well, critical in this installation...

    XLR impedance matching question.

    Thanks Rob, much appreciated.

    XLR impedance matching question.

On the face of it (in my mind...) the answer seems so simple that I feel I might be missing something! Do input impedances of multiple devices connected in parallel sum in exactly the same manner as simple resistors? I have a processor of 60ohm output impedance with which I want to drive six...
