New DIY Mid High (90deg) - AKA PM90

Find here the: 3D Plans Few notes: - The pockets are drawn without margin. If you cut them with a CNC mill, make sure to program it with bigger radius (like +0,5-1mm), otherwise you won't be able to fit in the panels during assembly. The wood will swell under the glue and fill in the gaps. I...

Since I didn't know about APL C5, I followed your approach but for APL Workshop - Defining per Driver Target Curves, then measure the drivers seperately (either with or without IIR-crossovers) and then combine them and correct possible phase issues in the crossover region with delay/allpass...

They are in parallel, but the crossover parts influence the impedance as well. The nominal impedance of the 16 Ohm version of FB464 is... 16 Ohms ;)

New DIY Mid High (90deg) - AKA PM90

As mentioned here and here, the 16 Ohms version will have less noise. The DCX464 is really sensitive. With the 16 Ohm version, I still get quite noticeable hiss. In PA settings, this is no problem, but for hifi, it would be too loud, imho. No, you could go with less. 1.5 to 2 times RMS power is...

New DIY Mid High (90deg) - AKA PM90

+++ on everything David said. I habe built the same combination, only difference is theb12NDL76 are wired in parallel -> 4 Ohms. To give you an example, I am powering the pair of DIY90 with a FP10000q. At 16 ohms for the high section, it has enough reserve (660w power). With 2100w@4ohms for the...

one more question about the damping: Is it supposed to be applied on the sidewalls of the chamber only? Or should the whole chamber be filled? What material did you use? sonofill? or soundabsorbing foam mats? I am about to finish the cabinet build and totally forgot about the dampening.

New DIY Mid High (90deg) - AKA PM90

Did exactly that, and from what I understood, it is an adjustable All Pass Filter that you can use to correct the phase. It applies a 360° shift at the frequency that the High Pass filter is set to, even If you dont use it. If put intelligently and depending on the phase behaviour, you could...

New DIY Mid High (90deg) - AKA PM90

Thanks for your answers. Amp power is definitely an aspect of consideration. If there isn't any other that could make a difference (e.g., different TS-parameters on the 16 Ohm version), that would not be my biggest concern. Though I read something somewhere sometime about sensitity issues with...

New DIY Mid High (90deg) - AKA PM90

Yes, and hence my question is: Are there any concerns with using 2x 16 Ohms in parallel = 8 Ohms for the mids, in contrast to 2x8Ohm=4Ohms? I can get my hands on the 16Ohms version, but can't happen to find an offer for the 8 Ohms version. Just want to doublecheck before spending 700+ Euros on...

Hello Peter. As you might have read in the DIY90 thread, I created a 3D model based on the plans from Max Warasila. I would share the Fusion 360 and dxf files of the assembled model and the flatpacks with everybody on the thread, but just with your permission. Would you be okay with that...

from what i read before i thought the dcx would fit the original 90 degrees version (even if tightly)?

New DIY Mid High (90deg) - AKA PM90

Finally some progress: Parts for my PM90 build are getting CNCed tomorrow in a local woodshop. I used Fusion360 to creat a digital model and plans for a flatpack based on the drawings by Max Warasila. @Peter Morris, I would share the F3d and DXF files here, if you don't mind?

New DIY Mid High (90deg) - AKA PM90

Hey, I started building two cabinets. I think I am going with the B&C 12NDL76 and the B&C DCX464, but am having a little confusing regarding the ohmage. Just to prevent any mistakes: This would mean mids = 2x 16 Ohms driven in parallel + high = 8 Ohms version? Or rather mids= 2x8 ohms driven in...

PM 60 & 90 settings and alternative drivers.

Maybe an aurora dsp by auverdion would be more suitable, combined with addon D this should make for some very decent processor. Very low distortion, 8 channels, enough FIR taps included, wireless capability included, very accesible software for programming... surely beats the mentioned dsp and...
