Hi Pawel, The issue with this box and any speaker box for that matter is minimising vibration of the walls as well as the underlying strength of the box. The trick is to have any resonance in the box above the highest operating frequency of the driver it is enclosing (700Hz ) … if you can. To minimise the weight, the box was designed so that almost every panel had 2 functions; to enclose the 12” drivers and form a wall of the horn or; provide an outside box wall and also be a [URL='http://i.viglink.com/?key=5cf16c336e47fafee363278702686ee9&insertId=34d7e473cc7af180&type=H&mid=7937&exp=60%3ACI1C55A%3A3&libId=k69d99au01012yw0000DAb63aeftq&loc=https%3A%2F%2Fsoundforums.net%2Fcommunity%2Fthreads%2F60-degree-diy-mid-hi-aka-pm60.12390%2Fpage-45&v=1&iid=34d7e473cc7af180&out=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.gopjn.com%2Ft%2F1-7937-43737-7937%3Furl%3Dhttps%253A%252F%252Fwww.tractorsupply.com%252Ftsc%252Fproduct%252Fwillow-creek-press-horn-porn-6672-1412717%253Fcm_mmc%253Dfeed-_-GoogleShopping-_-Product-_-1412717&ref=https%3A%2F%2Fsoundforums.net%2Fcommunity%2Fforums%2Fdiy-audio.28%2F&title=60%20Degree%20DIY%20Mid%20Hi%20-%20AKA%20PM60%20%7C%20Sound%20Forums&txt=%3Cspan%3Ehorn%20%3C%2Fspan%3E%3Cspan%3Ewall%3C%2Fspan%3E']horn wall. There was no dead space inside the box other than a tiny bit on the top and bottom 2 rear corners ... and the 12" drivers could be installed through the HF horn cut out without the added complexity and weight of separated removable panel to install them. I did cut off the 2 back vertical corners and I documented the weight saving some where. It also makes the box slightly more rigid. I looked at cutting the top and bottom back corners off (I mentioned above) to save a little more weight but it would limit how stable the box would be when stacked. While I suspect it would be possible to save more weight by doing what you suggested, I’m not sure how it would impact the resonant issues without adding more bracing and making an already complex build even more difficult … But ... one of the hopes in posting my design was further improvements as everybody shared their ideas and knowledge. :)
