Day 2- stage line 250 with 6 vertex per side and 8 srx728.

And it is nice somebody finally read our rider all the way through because on day 2 they also provided our zebra.

I hate when they spray paint white stripes on a black horse and try to pass is off as a "zebra". It's insulting because it shows that they DID read the rider, but they just want to cheap out.

VerTec 4887? Looks like manual chain falls hanging the PA, but they used motors for the lights...

Back in my day, we only had a pony on our rider... Equine elitist! ;)

Matt,

It is the same provider the promoter uses for the Chesapeake blues fest. They have been doing this show for close to 20 years.

They are called Palmetto sound out of SC. Very professional crew and great production. Profile at FOH, M7 at monitors for us openers, headliner had his own monitor world, EaW microwedges in addition to the vertec.

Tim, I never really looked at the light rig as we were there for a daytime slot.

How many soundmen does it take to change a light bulb?

None, soundmen don't do lights...

At the club, I turn the lights on and off, and have even programmed some flashy things in. I can also put a spotlight on 4 separate locations on stage. The person on stage can either stand in the spots or not, its up to them.

My big victory in lighting was when I figured out how to do an all white wash, so I use the LEDs as work lights rather than the single household flood that was originally provided.

Re: A contrast of two days

If it weren't for the ongoing safety concerns, the Day 1 stage would have been an absolute joke, but it is hard to convince a local act dealing with these small time providers/promoters, that this type of thing requires a hard line. Unfortunately, if the act squeeks too much, it is more likely that they aren't hired back, rather than the production standards changing.

I did send an email to the organizer of the event stating the stage and roof presented a safety issue, and that they should review current best practices such as what is available through the Event Safety Alliance webpage.

Even ignoring the kite roof, those scaffold towers don't look like they'd meet OSHA requirements (4:1 rule) https://www.osha.gov/Publications/osha3150.pdf
