A quick peek around Bluesfest 2012

This is for those of you who may or may not be interested in the equipment porn , and new stage that is at the infamous Ottawa bluesfest site. I attended the show last night, and talked with a few of the guys I knew who were working.
Global Premier Stage (a guess), the event now has a meterologist and weather station on site. The pa, and LEd screens are brought in each night, and the back cover of the deck is dropped in winds > 25kph.
Gear is 16 Milo per side, 48 HP700's configured two, behind two across the front of the deck with 4 milo front fill... needless to say there was plenty of kick drum to be had.
16 Mica hanging behind FOH with 2 650P at the base. SD8 at FOH and SD7 on deck with a guest venue at FOH. Lighitng was all Mac 700's profiles and washes by the looks of it, maybe 2K's.

B stage was EV xlc stuff, didn't get a cabinet count, but it looked to be 12 to 16 boxes - didn't get a sub count. 5D house desk out front with guest venue as well.

Re: A quick peek around Bluesfest 2012

I notice "hard" lateral support for the tower truss. My understanding is that there is much more steel (and welding) in the stage assembly this year.

And yes, Premier Global is the supplier.

We headliner the mainstage last year a couple days before the rig came down. Glad to hear they are stepping up the safety.

It appears that they have learned their lesson from last year's disaster.

A nice looking rig this year. Last year I had a fun time chatting with Dave Rat after the Soundgarden show and he was explaining some of his newest subwoofer processing/steering tricks which he used with outstanding results for even coverage. He brought in his own subs last year. I don't recall them providing that many 700HP's last year, 48 is more than ample for a venue like that. Does Wall own all of that Meyer rig now, or did they crossrent some of that?

Wall ( excuse the pun :p) subbed, 24 of the 700 HP's out of the states - they rest they own.... the milo is NEW, the insurance sold off the kit that fell - never to be flown again, I believe it's being tested (by Meyer) and parted out, maybe as loaner parts....amp modules etc.
Teisto was the first night, so the rig was set-up to "handle that", and anything else that followed would be fine... and it was - chest caving kick drum...
Nickelback was the headliner last night, and in the song Far away, there are several long reverberated kick drum hits....holy cow...

The nicest thing I can say about the Nickleback crew is that they are a delight to say "goodbye" to... It's fun to watch the local crew waive goodbye, with a single digit per hand...

I just woke up my wife laughing at this.

A buddy of mine went through there with Iron Maiden and said that the rig was a site to see. Wish I could visit.
