Accordion

My Grandmother is looking to get an accordion for my grandpa for Christmas. There is a lot of different styles out there. I have been tasked with finding the unit. He refers to the one he used to own as a "button box". Im looking for some guidance on what style that might be or if that term describes a certain style.

All perfect pitch/dumpster jokes aside.....
One of the biggest distinctions is between piano accordions and button accordions - the former uses a piano style keyboard for the right hand, the latter 2 or 3 rows of buttons. Sounds like your grandpa is more familiar with the latter. May be worth checking with him if it was a 2 or 3 row - I'm not sure how all the notes are laid out so someone familiar with 2-row may still struggle on a 3.

It's a squeeze box, but a lot smaller than an accordion.
