Amp Rack wiring... Bi-Amp & Passive off the 1 amp

I’ve been trying to brain storm this for some time now, but can’t figure it out how to wire it up.

My current system is with 2 Power Amps (IT4000 & IT8000) and it has a simple input/output panel right now; using all 4 conductor cables and it’s wired up as Left or Right into the SRX, then Link up to the main with short jumpers (1+/- Mains & 2+/- Subs). The QRx’s are ran Passive now.

And here is what I want to do; Bi-Amp my QRX212 with IT4000. The IT8000 will power the SRX718s. However, I still need to change a preset on the IT4000 to power the MRX512m (passive, not switchable to Pin 2).

So, how do I pre-wire the Amp Rack & IT4000, so that I can Bi-Amp the QRX and then run the MRX’s Passive when I change the preset?

Re: Amp Rack wiring... Bi-Amp & Passive off the 1 amp

IT4000 wired to two speakons: One speakon will be both +-1 and +-2 wired (as if you plugged into the channel 1 output on the amp, essentially straight through). Speakon 2 will have +-1 wired to channel 2. Now you can use Speakon 1 and Speakon 2 for Left and Right passive, or just Speakon 1 for biamped mono mains.

My racks simply have 1 NL4 per Itech, wired straight-through off the channel 1 output. If I need to run two channels passive, I simply plug the second cable directly into the back of the amp, since channel 2 is already wired for +-1.

I also have breakout boxes so I can run two channels down an NL4 and break them off to two passive speakers somewhere down the line. I also have the same thing for NL8, but I rarely use NL8 anymore. Maybe I can get some pictures up of the setup, but likely this thread will be dead by the time I have time.

Can you list all your configurations you want to be able to use, including subs? I don't see the problem.

It looks like wiring the IT4K to two speakons - one "Channel 1/2" and the other "Channel 2" (on 1+-) should cover you. (This is how the speakons on the amp are wired) Unless you're trying to do MRX over SRX on one cable. In which case, someone is getting re-wired.

Lee...

Right now I have just 2 systems:

Small) MRX512m on a stick with SRX718s below
Big) QRx212 stack on 2-3 SRX718s

Wiring has been... to Left or Right stack, plug into sub, jumper all speakers up. Pin 1+/- for Mains, Pin 2+/- for Subs.
