Re: Amp Racks, shock mount or not?
I've plugged in a lot of amp racks, and I can't remember a single one that was shock mounted. Well, one company I work with used 2 shock mounted racks, but only because he got them as a package deal with used amps. He doesn't use those amps or racks anymore though. The racks were huge.
On the subject of size though, I have a couple 16RU shock mounted racks from http://www.indycase.com/ that I use for wireless, and I really like their unique design. The lids tuck into the side of the case between the shock mount frame and the case exterior, and the case is 22.5" x 30", which is perfect for my truck pack. It's nice not having to find a place to store lids, and they're definitely not huge like every other shock rack I've seen. I bought them for their size and design, but the shock mounting is a nice bonus.
But yeah, you don't need shock mounting in an amp rack. And never let your gear fall off the truck.
