I did a show the other week and the provider had a PM 3000 at FOH. I chose instead to use my APB Pro Desk. But we got to talking about our old analogue gear.He has several digital boards but still has 2 - PM3000's a 4000's and some Ramasa boards which he still uses occassionaly. With digital boards dropping in price you almost can't give away your analgue gear.I have a 10 year old Crest X4 that is in good shape and sounds good.It has a road case that cost over $500 but I can't even get $1,000 for it. Perhaps someone could start a museum, but eventually all this stuff will end up in the analogue grave yard.

Re: Analogue grave yard.

I have had this fantasy for a little while.

I want to build a "briefcase gig" FOH. A soundcraft 200B and a small rack with a PCM60, a space echo, a few DBX 160's and maybe a pair of Urei La4's. Just something down and dirty to do the bands that I mix for regularly. Could be a cool way to spend an afternoon!

I just thought of this too, I should get a pair of White rotary-knob EQ's to complete the package! That would be pretty damn sweet. Meyer CP-10's are steadily coming down in price as well.

A pair of White 4400's and Meyer CP-10 in a drive rack would be the tits.

Pfffft on the not B.

I have the market cornered on 200B's, with a wide selection of sweepable inputs, and the very rare stereo channels.
I have big plans.

That are never going to materialize.

I have even cut down some of the frames, to 20ch EG. 16 mic and 4 stereo.

It sounded lie garbled mud from 800 hz to 2000 hz. You could hear someone talking but couldn't understand what they were saying. Add in the effect of the tent andthe fact that it was an ethnic music event so the speakers had prominent accents and the overall effect was "1950 train station ".
