What type of cable would be appropriate to use to extend the antennas of a shure SLX system? Our LV vendor has used RG59 for ULX, would it work for SLX too?
In general, you can use whatever 50 ohm coax you like, provided that it has appropriate loss characteristics for your run length. RG59 is a 75 ohm coax, and is not a good choice.
For short runs (e.g. within a rack), RG58 is pretty common. For longer runs, LMR400 is a good choice.
For patch lenghts RG58 is okay, From 5 metres on I would use a cable type with less loss.
Aircell 7 has less than half cable loss and is still thin enough for most applications. Ecoflex 10 would be my choice for really long runs (longer than 20 metres)
