Antenna Distribution Compatability

I have been researching a bunch of wireless systems and I was wondering if different brands of equipment can share the same antennas.

For the example I'm thinking of, existing system is 8 individual ATW3k rev. 2. The plan is to add two or more additional channels (different frequency band coincidentally enough), but to phase out the ATW3k, the preferred system is ULX-D. When we do this, I was going to try and get everything hooked up to installed antennas rather than the two whips on the back of the ATW3k units. It's not optimal to do this, I know, but it'll work- hopefully better than 8 ATW3k stacked and held together by scrap wood providing enough friction to keep the 4x2 stack of receivers together.

The question is, though, if there is anything explicitly wrong with splitting the signal out to multiple brands of receiver, particularly in this situation. Since the long term goal is to go 100% Shure, the UA845-SWB is the current candidate.

Thoughts?

Re: Antenna Distribution Compatability

Henry Cohen always says that RF is "brand-agnostic." That means if the other considerations (DC blocking or DC distribution, etc) are taken into account, ANY antenna, splitter or combiner will work with any gear that is within the operating bandwidth of the system.

Only slightly germane to topic at hand.

Telex ALP antennas will not work with Shure receivers. The telex show a short at DC and the Shure units don't like this. Inline DC blocking pieces can be purchased to make them work though.

Is this with or without disabling the DC output on the Shure receivers?
