Any MIDI experts out there?

I have been playing around with an X32 and a BCF2000 MIDI controller with motorized faders and a computer (PC) running a show control software called Palladium.

I can get the computer to talk back and forth when running Palladium and hooked up to the MIDI on the X32 in and out ports using an M-Audio mini sport uno.

I can get the BCF2000 to talk back and forth when hooked up to the MIDI out and MIDI in on the X32.

The BCF2000 gives me the ability to use it as a fader wing and the faders on the X32 control the assigned faders on the BCF and the other way around. It also sends fader moves both ways in the cue/scene recalls.

So what I would really like to do is make all of this work together. I have not found a way to hook it up without losing the ability to have the faders on the BCF control the faders on the X32. I want instant access to more then just 16 input faders at a time.

So the computer is hooked up to the M-Audio usb interface that has a MIDI IN and an OUT. The BCF2000 has 3 MIDI ports an IN, an OUT A, and an OUT B/THRU. It also has a USB port.

The X32 has 2 MIDI ports a MIDI IN and an OUT. The X32 also has a USB port and an Ethernet port. I am wondering if I can get one of those X32 ports to talk to the computer and also have it the X32 and the BCF2000 talk to each other over MIDI at the same time. I would really like to be able to get all of this to work together as well as it works when only one thing is hooked up to the X32.

I am losing the X32 console early tomorrow it is being installed in a church youth room. So I don’t have much more time to play with this. I thought I had a little bit more time to play with the X32 but the install got moved up. This has been a real learning experience and I am delving deeper and deeper into this. I am trying to figure out if I can make this combination work.

X32 MIDI Out -> M-Audio MIDI In (M-Audio USB to computer)
M-Audio MIDI Out -> BCF2000 MIDI In
BCF2000 MIDI B out (make sure merge function is enabled if that is a setting) -> X32 MIDI In

That should work unless Palladium is blocking the messages from the X32. It should pass them through to the MIDI out. If not, see if there's a THRU setting in the software. If not, there's other solutions.

I tried all of the other modes on the BCF2000 that had the merge configuration in it. And now it works a lot better, not quite perfectly, the only thing that isn’t working is the fader moves on the X32 don’t move the faders on the BCF2000. But that’s ok because those are the hidden faders, by that I mean they are on another layer and I don’t want to have to switch to that layer to control them. But if I do control them from that lower layer the Palladium software is seeing the changes. So this looks like a very acceptable solution.

I had tried that wiring the other day but I didn’t know about the merge.

Thank you very much.
