Anybody working for a huge convention in Atlanta next month? GA Dome

I'll be attending/meeting up with a few people at a large convention at the Georgia Dome and World Congress Center next month, June 15th-18th and was wondering if anybody was working for it. It's for a Financial Services Company called Primerica, and it'd be great if I could meet some people from the forum if they'll be in the area for it. Estimated attendance is around 60-65,000 people.

Also, just as a note, if you're flying in or out of Atlanta,GA on the 15th or the 19th, prepare for longer waiting lines...

Ben,

Not working in the GA Dome, but i have been there in the past when they do these sorts of things, and if they put up the fabric drape roof cover that was designed for the olympics, that roof drape is quite impressive.

Also, the Atlanta airport is the busiest passenger (not freight) airport in the entire world, averaging 250k people every day. Your convention won't be a blip on their radar people-wise.

+1

I hope the air traffic controllers and related logistics staff are well paid.
90 million passengers last year, approx 1 million flights. Pretty much unavoidable to be routed through there when I fly Delta to the south. With 6 concourses, it sometimes can be a long trip if you have to change gates.

I suspect Beijing may eventually overtake H-J as the leader, as it continues to grow at a very rapid pace.

I worked a Primerica event here in Canada. They where travelling with ALL their own gear. I think Switch Prod. from Atlanta was the provider.

Also - my subjective opinion, only - If the flight arrives at night, take a taxi into town.

I don't feel comfortable riding the MARTA train into town from Hartsfield-Jackson (at least at night, I don't) and unfortunately, there is no express train service available.

The last time we played NYC, my flight home to GA came on a Friday night. I took MARTA, since my girlfriend lives near the Brookhaven station, and therefore I didn't leave my car at the airport.

The first stop in from the airport, a drunk/wacked woman gets on the packed train, and it got disgustingly ugly, with loud racially charged rants all the way into Five Points.

That's Entertainment!

You should ride NYC subways after 10PM more, then that kind of thing won't affect you.

Re: Anybody working for a huge convention in Atlanta next month? GA Dome

I'm very familiar with NYC and its subways, and I spend a lot more time on the NYC subway than I do riding the Atlanta public transportation. And although crazy do people get on the NYC subways, statistically, violent crime is rare in NYC, certainly in Manhattan and around Bedford Ave/Williamsburg area of Brooklyn .

Whereas in Atlanta I always assume an angry person is armed with a gun. If that kind of thing doesn't affect you, well, that's your business, not mine, but I did want to give a heads-up to travelers to Atlanta.
