I see the AT5400 showing up on a lot of tours lately and hear people saying a lot of good things about them but the old version is no more, replaced by the newer AE version. Is there any real difference between them?

I can't comment on the AT5400 but the AE5400 is an excellent microphone.

Yes, it's a killer voice mic. The AT's are discontinued, as mentioned. The AE's are a bit of a step up in performance although basically the same design and specs.

Yea well it's not an OM5 it's a condenser right? I became fond of the KSM9 a few years ago in applications where people wanted to use "the Neumann" but it was completely inappropriate. Like anywhere near a drum kit. Is the 5400 in the same class? If so I may have a KSM9 or two for sale.
