Does anyone have any experience with Bassboss (previously known as Bassmaxx) woofers? The rig i'm looking into is 4 ZV28 boxes and 2 Z5 horns (they were designed to work together). I have only heard the horns though. Not many people have experience with them as they are a relatively young brand. They do look top notch though. The system I mention is capable of hitting 21 hz +/-3db which is quite impressive to me. I'm a little skeptical about tech riders though as they are somewhat unknown. The MainStage at ULTRA 2013 used them exclusively and apparently now a single coil burned out. Beach worked on it this year so they used the D&B J-subs, possibly the infras as well but i'm not certain. anyway I want some opinions. The performance is unreal, can't ask for much more; the relatively unknown name is what bothers me though. Thoughts.

I would not call them young. Small maybe. I was mixing on them 14 years ago. You will find quite a few local and regional systems in the south central US with them. I liked them.

Id agree with that. They're definitely a good brand that's been around but I meant young relative to competitors that have been around forever.

I have no experience with that particular model but did just deliver a small club system to one of my customers that consists of a pair of AT212 tops with 90 degree horns over a pair of XSP218 subs. I tried out one stack at my warehouse and was very impressed with the output, build and sound quality.

Re: Bassmaxx/Bassboss

I love my B2s.

That said, this is a very chameleon company. (See recent name change.)
Constantly changing models, to go with the blowing breeze.
Burns bridges with speaker manufacturers and cabinet builders.
Don't expect any availability of speakers through them for repairs or simply adding more to your stock within a couple of years.

Update: Friday the 13th, June 2014.

I have received a call from the BassBoss. It seems that I may not have heard the whole story or at least the resolution on some of this.
It is also possible that reparations may be made to two speaker manufacturers bridges. Lets hope so.
