Hello, I have a behringer sx2442fx board that I think either one of the built in effects banks are going out or the pots just need to be cleaned or something. I plugged it up this morning and got to noticing something that sounded like it was scratchy in the system , so i unplugged everything that was connected to the board and listened through headphones and it still done it , so i brought it home plugged it up and it took a little while before it done it again, and looked and it was fx2 on my built in effects. so now i just turned everything down on it and the problem is solved , ok , I was wanting to know if any of you might know how the fx banks go out when they do? I usually use external effects.

Re: Built in effects question

Were all the knobbers associated with the FX turned full up? What exactly did you turn down to make the sound go away?

Chances are it was just the noise of the gear itself.....the noise floor.....being over-amped with everything in that stage being turned up higher than it would be under normal use.

All of the knobs were turned up to about 12 o'Clock. but the channel strip Fx knobs wasnt turned up at all. just on the bank. I turned the fx to mains fx knob down and it stopped. I never crank them all the way up or nothing like that , just about middle ways. I am really just hoping that they need cleaning. I never really have liked Behringers internal effects banks on their boards , I always try to use the external that i already have.

Re: Built in effects question

Is it making the noise all the time or only when you turn the knob?

Chris

It will make it sometimes , not all the time. I can play music through it for a little bit and then it will start doing it. it sounds like a little bit of static and it will get louder and then go back down to a low volume.

I have seen/heard this on an older (5-6yo) 32ch version as well. How old is your one?

It's not very old, prbably around 3 or 4 years at the least. I was looking at getting a Allen and heath zed series , but i dont see where they have a place for outboard effects so i don't know where i will go from there.
