Re: Behringer sx2442fx fader might be bad. Hello Problem with budget boards is, that while they are easy to build, some of them are next to impossible to service. There might be a pc-board, that has 8 channels on it - with soldered jumper wires to next board. To open that you should open bottom plate, pull out every knob of all 8 channels, open huge amount of nuts and screws, then see if you could turn the pc-board out without unsoldering jumper wires - naturally the whole chabang must be supported in upright position. Then you can start looking for actual problem... It could be, that there is channel ON- or MUTE-switch simply in series in audio chain ( even modular Soundcraft Delta / Venue had a flimsy switch like that...) - those go bad now and then - there might be bad solder joint in audio chain. Or the fader could be gone. If fader is separate from board, it is easy to replace, but if it is on board - which is likely in this case - you are up shit creek again - sorry Looking for something like that on double-sided pc-board with modern miniature surface-mounted parts is pain i.a. but it can be done. It is quite time-consuming, so there is no point paying for the labour, while it can take hours to find and fix it. On the other hand - if you have SOME electronic skills and plenty of time, you might try it some day. Quality soldering tool with good solder removing tool are a must !!!
