hello. my name is clint and i am new to this site. im having difficulty using my new behringer uca222. i hope i can get my ignorant issues solved here. o.k, so before purchasing the uca222, i was lining my behringer eurorack ub1204fx-pro directly into the back of my computer (which is an older dell/windows xp) using audacity and the computers onboard soundcard. my sole purpose of this is to lay vocals down over the many instrumental tracks i have. i connect my shure in-ears to the mixers headphone jack and was able to lay vocals over the instrumental tracks. this was fine but on most every track and every attempt to lay my background vocals on top of what i had already sung, i would get terrible clicking and what not. i assumed this was because of the onboard soundcard not being very good. also, when recording my own background vocals of what i had already sung, i would be listening to the instrumental with the first layer of vocals thru my in ears. this is fine by me by the way. so i recieved my behringer uca222 about a week ago and have not been able to get it hooked up properly. ive tried many different ways to hook it up but have not been able to continue recording and multi-tracking like i had been when i was lining the mixer directly to the back of my computer. at times i was able to hear the instrumentals. at times i was able to hear the vocals and at times able to hear the vocals over the instrumentals. biggest problem is i am not able to record, let alone multi-track the background vocals. when i would press the record button on audacity, the speaker icon on the computer would automatically mute itself. i tried different hook-ups and different sound and recording options thru audacity but to no avail. if there is anyone out there that can assist me in proper hook-up i would greatly appreciate this. im not looking for anything spectacular in terms of cd quality turnouts but just the quality i was getting when i was laying the first vocals on an instrumental using the onboard soundcard (which was pretty decent) im sorry for the long winded plea but i am so frustrated by my ignorance and inability to make this all work. it doesnt seem to hard of a thing im doing but yet im failing. please help. thank you very much and again, sorry for such a long post. i don't know where else to turn. clint
