I reread article 2 today, in hard copy.
It was my first copy of the mag. Apparently I hit whatever magic number (post count?) that caused them to offer me a free subscription. I find the timing ironic.
edit- by the way, using the described physical measure of the delay, I was able to get frequency dependent rear reduction of up to 20 db. Later using SMAART to match the phase to set the delay, I was able to get an easy 6-9 db reduction over the entire range of my subs.
If school is canceled tomorrow, i may do some more playing in the basement.
