Re: Best Bang for Buck Home Listening Monitors Get a bigger coffee table, or a more expensive laptop, problem solved! Seriously, with a little bit of acoustic treatment and your ears and experience I am sure you could make any of a wide variety of inexpensive speakers sound great in an apartment room. Actually, I have been looking at the F081AN 8" speaker plans on the B&C website for when I get some time to make a (very) little sawdust. So, the cheapest option (not counting your time) would be to throw together a pair of those, and a 12" or 15" sealed subwoofer, tweak the system with an old DSP/crossover you probably have lying around, and I am sure you can beat the best bang for the buck out there. Let us know how you do it so we can copy your tweaks and (B&C) driver choices. And if you find a great sounding inexpensive 3 way that even at reasonable apartment party SPLs is -3 dB at 35 Hz with no sub, please let us know.
