Came across this the other day when working on a recone. Appears as if someone was going for it till the death of this woofer. There was a old post with some other impressive blowouts and such a while back. Post them if you got em. Even better if you have the circumstances.

This is on an old CV erfquake that I've got for sale. This is how it looked when I opened it up. Eject! Eject!

This one seized up from either the former warping or hyper-extending and caught fire in the middle of a show. The crowd was pouring beer on it to put it out. It had been rubbing for months and was not replaced. I was not working the show but I had advised them this could happen. I'm the PD there now though.

Re: Burnout.

Bennett,
If that diaphragm in your hand is Radian, it's quite likely that the phase plug came loose and destroyed the 'phragm, not the other way around. I've had a few loose phase plugs, and in some cases I caught them before the diaphragms were damaged.

We discovered this while replacing with B&C, so hopefully won't be an issue again. These same Radian HF are in the club's monitors, they've been gluing phase plugs back in place there, but considering the real enemy there is beer it's not a large concern!
