Cables, Stands, Mics, etc storage for HOW

I'm looking for ideas on storage solutions for cables, mic stands, batteries, music stands, etc for my church. My church is considered a small church - 175 cap - so space is at a premium. We don't have a backstage type area - only 2 rooms flanking the stage. Currently, most everything is stored in a large filing cabinet, but this is nowhere near the ideal storage solution. Pics would be a huge help. Thanks y'all!

edit: oops, Sorry mods, I meant for this to be in the installs forum.

I have never seen anything I like better than a roadcase on casters. I like to bring the whole box to the the area I am working in.

I would suggest one workbox style case for mics and cables, and a second trunk for stands.

I don't tour in 18 wheelers with different load crews every show, so I get get usage out of the EWI boxes from www.audiopile.net.

A file cabinet is probably OK for smaller items like mics, cables, batteries, etc.

I own two of the cases Jay mentioned:

The EWI Workbox:

and the EWI stand case:
http://www.audiopile.net/products/Cases/M_Series_Mic_Cases/MIC_STAND_CASE_SELECT.shtml

I have the version on the right which requires tipping down for access. The version on the left may work better for you.

Both of my cases have been very valuable and of acceptable quality for my uses.

Thanks for the input y'all. I would prefer road cases too, but for our church, it'd be like using a sledge hammer to drive in a finish nail...overkill. Also way over the budget. I am looking for something more suited to an install environment.

Here's how I do it:

Avantek cladding for the cable trunk is probably from Home Cheapo but we designed it and had it locally forged. Solid steel, easily holds 18 stands, almost indestructible, heavy as all get out so no one can steal it, you get the idea...

Plastic tubs? All right for soft goods or spares storage (tucked away out of sight, of course) but for anything I want right now digging through the plastic tubs for a cable, DI or adapter on a dark stage gets old really fast.

Sorry for the plastic tub rant but I adopted all that plastic crap from the 'sound guy' whose place I took over a year ago...

Here's my weekend enthusiast home-built solution. The beauty, of course, is that it rolls onto the stage and gets all the stands close to where you need them at once. The holes are 3 5/8 in. square, which seems to be about right for regular tripod stands. They are easy to get in and out but tight enough so they don't fight one another during transport. The only issue I'm aware of is that it might be possible to damage the base-locking knob on the stands if they are replaced carelessly. So far I have not had a problem with this and future builders might find a solution. This example is built from 12mm birch, has 3 coats of Polane 700T, and holds 16 stands. Obviously, you could build one pretty much any size within reason.

well, sitting there next to all that d6 goodness just makes your storage look that much niftier...
