I've been looking around and I can't seem to find a nice and quality made tablet, I like the Lenovo X200 Tablet, But I'm not to sure. I have my base laptop and I would be using that to be hardwired into everything at FOH and I'm not to sure on the tablet I should buy to wirelessly control that.

Opinions?

Re: Cheap Tablet?

There are some good deals on Motion Computing LE1600 and LE1700 tablets on ebay. No one makes a better tablet, IMHO. The "bump cases" made for them are damn nice, too.

You don't need a bunch of CPU speed or RAM if you are doing nothing more than running Remote Desktop.

Thanks Milt! They look pretty nice, Most people want shiny and fancy new tablets, used and scratched ones are perfectly fine to me.

I think im going to bid on one now.

Re: Cheap Tablet?

+1 for the cheapo LE1600s on eBay. I got one for $150, plus the keyboard attachment for another $25. Advice: install Winblows 7 on it, MUCH MUCH BETTER than XP. I also put in an "N" capable network card and will be installing a small SSD which everyone says makes the thing awesomely fast. I love mine, it does everything I want and need it to do.

Re: Cheap Tablet?

For running Remote Desktop, that would be an iPad. :)

Not much you can do with multitouch there, though.

Not true, for instance my Color Nook is only 250 new. There are other Android tablets that are feature rich and can RDP/VNC to a host computer for less than the cost of an ipad. Even the Asus Transformer is cheaper than the iPad.

This isn't a hate post on the iPad by any means. its a very smooth and polished device. But there are alternatives out there for RDP at a better price point.
