Community XLT46, couple of questions...

I found a deal on a four pack of these XLT46's and 2 of the matching XLT55's. On paper, these look like a good fit for a club install that I have coming up. I saw that they do have rig points on the boxes, so that's not a problem, but I would like to hear from people that have used them if they had good luck with these cabs. They will be hung from each corner of a 25 by 35ish dance floor for all types of dance music. Crossed over into some subs that have yet to be determined. Usage is 4 nights a week.

If they are processed and limited well, do you think they will give a long service life and acceptable quality and SPL?

Also, are the horns rotatable? It looks like they might be, but the data sheet doesn't say.

Any other thoughts or gotchas about these cabs? I know they are bottom of the line stuff, but I'm trying to hit a price point here and these physically fit well in the club. If they will perform as well remains to be seen....

Thanks,
-=Tim=-

Hello Tim.

Check out this photo:

http://www.communitypro.com/files/literature/manuals/discontinued/xlmanual.pdf

I used to own the 2-ways on the top of the bigger cabs as well as the double 15's. A good while back, I remember they still had "Made in the USA" on them back when I bought them new. Paid a lot, too, here in Norway!

Incredibly lightwheight! Not bad-sounding, quite "sparkling", if that makes sense. They get super-shrill when pushed, though, but are hard to damage, even when "trying". The crossover will fry before the drivers go.

The baffle-board on the subs will eventually work loose and rattle.

I hope any of this makes sense, just back from a long day gigging and throwing out the first that comes to mind about these.

The "flypoints" are only T-nuts, btw. The stand adaptor is a piece of crap, they'll break right off. Mine became outfitted with Peavey ones scrounged off a couple of SP2 carcasses. Those still had "Made in the USA" on them, too. And the cloth grille with the silver strips. And the 22a driver for the round-flare horn as well as the flat-magnet Black Widow woofer with the spiderweb graphic on the back. Those were times :)
