I guess that it's time for you to follow Tim's advice, but I'll hold your hand on this one as well :razz:
As you have discovered, you get the mains outs through 7&8 when having the S16 set at 2, that is because your mains outs are assigned to 15 & 16, and are output on AES50 channels 15 & 16, and these gets shifted down by 8 when the S16 is set to 2.
The physical outs 1-8 ( and in the case of the Core, the virtual outs) are by default replicated on AES50 1-8. To get something to the S16 outs when it is in mode 1, you need to assign stuff to AES50 1-8. There are two ways to do this, you can either assign your outputs to virtual outs 1-8 in the (ROUTING) analog out tab, or you can reassign the AES50 outs in the appropriate (ROUTING) AES50 tab (A or B depending on which AES50 your S16 is connected to).
In the (ROUTING) analog out tab, outputs 1-14 are by default assigned to the buses and 15-16 are assigned to main outs. Assign output 7-8 to main L-R and you will have sound.
