In the dim, dark past I recall someone mentioning that it is possible to replace the CPC locking ring without having to extract the pins from the block. My quick look at the connector tells me " that ain't so." I'd love to be wrong. Anyone know how this might be done?

Have fun, good luck.

Re: CPC connector locking ring replacement

do you mean the fully plastic version? we used to just snap those rings on over the end. just square it up and smack it against something and it'll snap into place and [usually] not break off any pieces...

Yes, if it's the regular plastic 12ch model, you can snap the ring right on and off. If the one on there currently is messed up you can just split it with a pair of dykes and break it off. You can also use a small screwdriver to kind of work around the edge of it a bit and pop it off.

The body of the connector is beveled in one direction to help the new ring go on easy. Just put it on the connector and push, it should pop right on.
