Customer Service!

I get a call the other day, and the woman starts in that she is from the Cancer Relief Society (or some such name), and I yelled at her,
"How many times do I have to tell you not to call here!"

And she replied, "But the guy from one of the bands said that you could do our sound".

Er, well..... um... yes.

Oh well, they wanted me to do it for free anyway.

They all have all our numbers from when my wife went through breast cancer.
I am guessing that cancer survivors are generous donors. They will not cut us a break. They are relentless.

Re: Customer Service!

When answering a business line, it's always important to maintain professional conduct. Even if it's a sales pitch, be polite and ask to be taken off their call list. Most of the time, that works fine. If they persist, and try to follow their 'script' to get you in, and don't listen to your request, simply hang up.

As far as medical charities, I refuse to do those for anything but full rate. Why should I discount my services so that hospitals can get more money? Sorry, I don't like the idea of fundraisers for doctors salaries. Let them pay for the cause.

Re: Customer Service!

Several problems. One is that my lines are all co-mingled. Another is that we have a no call list, but this is for personal lines. Business lines are more vulnerable to open sales calls and panhandling.
So I get more calls from predators than I do from clients. (Most of my business is conducted via email.) Another problem is that we have established a business relationship with...cancer. So the door is open to spam us. I do try and start off polite, but I go off on the spammers. This was an odd situation, as the call rang through on the second line.

Bottom line is, they are doing an all night/day event, evening to morning when the walk starts, and then until the finish later in the morning, and are getting (and expecting) their sound services for free.
They can still piss up a rope.
