Good day All,

My teenage daughter wants speakers for her room to play her laptop, tablet, and iPhone on. Since constantly having to switch a 3.5mm jack between devices seems cumbersome to an impatient teen I thought a Bluetooth device would work. That said, I've been looking at the Danley Ion as one possible solution. Has anyone here had a chance to listen to one and can give an opinion on it's sound quality and features? One concern is it's bass response. Since she doesn't follow in her fathers rock roots and prefers to listen to Rap (crap) whatever I end up going with will need "decent" bass (I'm not looking to shake the walls, just good quality). I know the the Ion is a small unit but as I can attest from my TH-118's, Danley has been known to get a plethora of bass out of a small package. If anyone has any other suggestions for a good Bluetooth speaker I'd be happy to listen those opinions as well.

Thanks for your help,

Mario

Wouldn't changing the bluetooth settings be just as cumbersome as moving a 3.5mm jack plug? I'm not familiar with the Ion but surely you still have to tell it which device you want it to play audio from? A small mixer would work too, just plug in all the 3.5mm jacks and push up whichever fader (or turn the knob, on the small mixers) you need.

Re: Danley Sound Labs Ion

While the ION is a great little speaker and sounds better than other similar units-I would not consider it for your daughters needs for the following reasons.

1: It is a mono speaker-no way to make it blue tooth stereo. With some creative wiring of the 1/8" input you could use 2 for stereo-if you go "old fashioned analog".

2: While it has a decent bass response for it s size (and it can be enhanced by sticking it on a "cavity" that can resonate), it is not what you would consider a
kids stereo.

3: I doubt it would get loud enough-even though it does have a decent output (again for its size).

It is a great unit for what it is-and for the things it can do-but a "youth stereo" it is not. Unless of course you want the make her keep the disturbance down for the rest of the family. Then it could work great.

This is just MY opinion.

Thanks Ivan. That's exactly the info I was looking for. I appreciate your honesty about what your product can and can't do. Now if we could only get other manufacturers to show the same integrity about their products and specs...Kudos Danley!
