Hey Guys,

Forgive me if this is in the wrong spot. I just was given two DBX 1066 units from 1998. They both suffer from the LED meters being partially lit all the time. I know there is a fix for this that adds capacitors to some transistors on the inside, but I don't know which ones. I found the Q#'s for the 1046, but they don't match the 1066 Schematics, and it's not listed in the service manual. Anyone able to point me in the right direction?

We never have issues on weekdays, 9 to 5 pm...

Give the dbx office in Sandy, Utah a phone call on Monday if you don't get a definitive answer here. It is a common metering problem across several products (I have a 1231 EQ that does the same thing).

Hey Tim, would 1046s having the same issue have a similar fix?

Re: DBX 1066 Issues

I wouldn't be so sure it's their "cap fix" issue. I had two 1046s that I did the mod on to stop the LEDS for from lighting up for no reason. After doing the mod on both units, the problem was still there and the issue turned out to really be a bad ribbon cable connection. They use a crappy DIP socket on one end of the cable that connects to the main PCB, the meter PCB side is hard wired. While the unit is open, press on the DIP sockets feeding the meters and see if the issue goes away.

Re: DBX 1066 Issues

Seems like this can be caused by a few different things? On my 1046 and 1066 that had this problem, replacing the 7915 voltage regulator on the LED board solved it.

Good luck with it!
