After only 26 gigs under her belt my X32 is defective. In the middle of a show I pushed a business card under the console. I touched the board and pickup it up by about an inch. Thats when all hell broke lose.
Comps and Gates go into full protect mode and once the console is moved the gates stay in full so no audio passes or registers on the meters. I quickly restarted the board and everything was back to normal. Now at the end of my gig I pulled out all the XLRs and firewire and switched the edison cable. Same problem. But this time i had no audience so I let the board just do its thing. After about 30 seconds the L:R main buss makes the most awful noise and it was Full LEFT then Full RIGHT.
I took videos of all of this and am taking it back to the place I bought it....
not happy...

Re: Defective X32!!

120. Furman.

It sounds like this happens when the housing experiences torque flexing. Might be instructive to try this with the replacement unit and see if it's a design issue or simply bad luck.

Good to hear the retailer is handling the exchange, too. Shipping, repair and return time is inconvenient at best, but it's also good to see that B is actually offering a repair depot. Hopefully you'll not need to find out how effective they might be.

Re: Defective X32!!

The tester console where I bought it does NOT do this when torqued. Asking everyone else to check their X32.

Re: Defective X32!!

So Behringer just called my cell. They noticed my video of the defective X32 and are overnighting Texas Live Sound a brand new console. That they are going over with a fine tooth comb before sending out. Well played Behringer.

As I've said a time or two during the shootout here, it appears to me that "This ain't yer Father's Behringer".

The one I've used several times here (Thanx, James) has been perfect. It doesn't even seem to have the Channel 16 (?) noise issue that I've read about. And I've tried to reproduce it.

Re: Defective X32!!

Well, looks like mine is doing something simialair. I have music via my laptop plugged into the aux 5-6 rca's. Faders up a bit. No sound as should be. Push the L-R master up & get sound as per normal. However, with the L-R master down, if I lift the board up in front, I suddenly get audio, VERY loud. Seems to be when the "foot" in the middle of the board is no longer in contact with the stand it's sitting on.....

Re: Defective X32!!

A weird thing indeed, but the explanation is probably straightforward.

A couple of the less likely explanations:
10. The factory used to be a pinball-machine factory, and they decided to use the left-over bits.
9. You have accidentally activated the anti-theft alarm, see if you can locate your key and press the alarm button again.
8. The desk was originally comissioned to Lauren Hayes as part of some tacticle sound experience set-up.
7. .......

Re: Defective X32!!

My suggestion.... don't do "that"... lol

Sorry to see that you have that issue - I need to check mine, although I don't normally lift the console after it's been plugged in...
you'll find that you won't do that once it's in a case as well...

I'm curious to know what the issue is, although I suspect there's some circuit board bending or flexing causing irratic behaviour.
I guess picking up the board didn't make it into the QC regiment at behringer.

Re: Defective X32!!

The way I found it was while doing something else, I had left the source music on & the channel faders up. The master was down. I started hearing little "blips" of music coming from the powered speaker connected to the board. This is a real bummer as I was planning on using it this weekend/monday night for the first time.....

Hi Lance,

Sorry to hear you have this issue.
This issue has only come up twice with the first 20,000 plus units, so it is very uncommon.

I am looping Chase McKnight into this. Chase is our head X32 tech in Las Vegas.

His direct number is:
702-371-0830

I sent you a PM with my direct cell number as well.

Stay in touch and let me know when this is resolved with Chase.
