Nelu,

Panasonic makes decent low cost mic elements, but good sounding elements for under $10 will be omnidirectional, you have to pay a lot more for decent cardioid mic elements.
Check out this thread, I posted some pictures in #5:

Many phones, answering machines and computers use the same type elements, you can often scavenge them for no cost. The "cheap phone" sound usually comes from the phone shroud, often the elements have very flat response, though some do have built in "presence" in the speech range.
Also in the cheap department are headset mics, just got one for my cell phone for under $8 delivered, unfortunately it was wired incorrectly for my phone..

Re: DIY Stage Microphone

Interesting project. Mouser has LOTS of mic capsules available ranging from a about two dollars and up, but as Art said most are omnidirectional. Any little dynamic speaker can be used as a microphone, something out of a pair of ear buds, headphones, etc. If you take a small open back speaker you will need a small enclosure just like a miniature speaker cabinet to mount it in to prevent cancellation. With experimenting on the size and various ports in the enclosure you could make a cardioid mic out of it.

Are you looking for a certain unique sound.

Re: DIY Stage Microphone

thanks all for answers

i have some experience in sound, soldering and electronics in general

i found a lot of information about Panasonic WM-61, but these capsules are no longer produced
now looking for something similar, to buy it on Mouser... but tested by connoisseurs 8)~8-)~

thanks
Mike Caldwell about the LITTLE DYNAMIC SPEAKER, it's a good idea ... you also know something parts on Mouser with good frequency response???

Re: DIY Stage Microphone

Panasonic WM61/62 are very good sounding and cheap. Dan Dugan has a thread online somewhere. He uses them for field recording.

Bias power from the bodypack may be low enough that simple point to point wiring may be all that is needed.

If you are merely reinforcing acoustic instruments (as mentioned) and not folding them back, this could be a lo-cost way to look. Cheap enough to experiment for sure.

As ML Procise has said: "Bad sound beats no sound every time".

Re: DIY Stage Microphone

hello dear friends
my problem was resolved
i purchased from Mouser.com these PUI Audio AUM-5247L-R capsules, and works great ... good sound ... the days ahead, i will try to post a video comparison between AKG C519, Shure BETA 98H and my DIY stage mic PUI Audio AUM-5247L-R.
Thank you all for your help, and thanks for this forum

Re: DIY Stage Microphone

Not sure what the point is of making your own microphone is.
Their are lots of decent Chinese import condensers like the behringer c-2 that sound really good and can be had cheaply.
In addition you can find some inexpensive lapel mics for around $2 on ebay
Don't get me wrong I like to build stuff too but finding some kind of decent housing is a pain.
I built a couple of Omni directional mics back in the day I just stuffed in a connector housing that worked OK for overheads and Hat
