Hello, this is our 3rd installment of the DJ Live! webinar series. Not only is this a great webinar for DJs, but also an excellent post production technique for remixing and recreating original songs and recordings. The remix has become a near essential part of today's recording industry. We invite you to come participate in our discussion!

DJ Live! Webinar & User Group - Intro to Remixing
WED, DEC 5, 2012 1:00 PM - 3:00 PM PDT
Registration Web Link: https://www4.gotomeeting.com/register/751365087

Please Join us for DJ Live! This Webinar and User Group will focus on remixing music with MIDI control and sampling techniques.

Product Support Specialist Andrew Luck will be presenting the 3rd installment of the DJ LIve! webinar series. Check out one of his remixes here: I Put A Spell on You - SPLATINUM dubstep remix - YouTube

This webinar will delve into the exciting world of remixing and sampling. Our focus will be on utilizing the software tools Ableton Live and Mixed in Key, in combination with Behringer keyboard and MIDI controllers. These techniques can be utilized for any software and MIDI controllers. We will be improvising a remix from scratch during the webinar. Here are some of the techniques we will cover:

  • warping audio, samples and creating loops in Ableton live
  • organizing your sound library
  • using software to help pick sounds that go together
  • getting hands on with transposing samples
  • improvising arrangements
  • hacking grooves

I had this dream the other night while gently napping through the bands third set.

It started with Dick chasing me up the longest loadout ramp you have ever seen because I had suggested that the "future" of old time music lay in installing pickups in everything and studying musical greats such as Trampled by turtles.

I had escape Dick's wrath by hiding in the truck where Tim was supervising the most efficient loadout ever. As the boxes quickly stacked up, Tim kept saying I wasn't authorized to move any equipment in the truck but if I would use the search function instead of starting a new thread I might find the answer myself.

The boxes kept stacking as Evan brought out his prototype 22-18 subs and kept talking about the new seismic module for Smart. At the same time Brian was disconnecting his custom iem system based on 24 cascaded O1V boards.

I managed to escape through a vent (funny how we are skinnier in our dreams) and proceeded to fall on my noggin on the loading dock where Bolly was saying serves you right.

After two days in a coma the doctors shocked me back awake with the recent "belly portrait" picture Bennett posted recently on facebook.

The doctors did discover minor brain damage as I could not remember what all the little switches do and what the lights mean.

So I became a DJ...

It really wasn't a scary or strange dream until that last part.

Oh and if you are going to nap during the bands set, try not to wake up screaming.

I apologize for the confusion, however, the forum is labeled as "pro audio". Our topics will cover post production techniques used by professionals.

Andrew,

What does this have to do with live sound?

Also, we ask that manufacturer's reps indicate who they work for in their signature. Like mine.

Do us all a favor and re-mix Kenny G.

Andrew,

We don't really have a discussion area for professional guitarists, bassists, or percussionists either. Our work starts just after them, and just after DJs as well. Unfortunately you won't find much interest in that subject matter here, unless you can somehow tie it in with fast cars.

Too funny, Dick.

I hope you followed Minnesota interwebs protocol and edited three times before not posting that.

I'm personally more of a Michael Bolton fan for remixing, however Kenny G is not safe from these idle hands. ;) NOTHING is sacred in the world of remixing. NOTHING.

I could get very upset at the above statement if it weren't for the fact that your efforts suck big-time compared to the originals.
