Bennett has a good description but any dullness is only when you don't back off the attack a bit. The VCA is really fast and will kill all the transients and take the life out of things quickly if you leave the attack at max. It is not point and shoot but if you learn how to dial it in, it is stellar for a VCA unit. I have a 160XT as well in my rack and I prefer the sound and function of the 1066. I would say the 266 is more of a worn out Dodge Neon than a Honda though.I have not ever used the RNC but I have never heard anyone say they did not like it.
