Ear piercings and hearing

Hey all,
Recently, the idea of getting a cartilage piercing came to mind. Now, never mind fashion. I came to wonder, what effect might various piercings have on one's hearing? Like, all the way from one in the earlobe (which I would presume would be minimal) all the way to gauges and other types in the ear. Anybody have experience with this or know of any studies that have been done on this?

Not sure of any studies, but I currently have gauged lobes, cartilage on both ears and an anti-tragus in my left ear. Would be interesting to find out that they did have some effect on hearing (acoustical resonance in the inside wall of the spacers perhaps? :lol
