Hey Guys,
Anyone have any experiences with the EAW KF740 system? If so, your thoughts and opinions would be cool. I own 760's and 730's now and toying with the idea of a one box does all scenario? (weight is the issue with 760's and LF output is the issue with 730's). 740's look like they could be "the best of both worlds" (at least on paper) . Thanks in advance.

Gemini in Dallas has a big rig of 740s and a show or two of theirs using that rig has been written about either here or the other place. Also, H.A.S. productions (?) in Vegas has a 740 rig as well and it's been written about, too. Either try contacting those folks directly or do a search for those articles.

From what I've read, both are pleased with the 740 rigs.

You got that right Geri O! 740's are for girls!

BTW... There's a world more low end available from the 730's without sacrificing output than what the UX presets allow for stock. It's pretty clear those presets assumed SB730's would always be flown with the array. Folks also underpower the 730's low passband. That cabinet for the most part is an undiscovered gem.

There is so much more available from so much of the stuff we use, but we're understandably too busy to pursue it. The handful of mfg's that put product on the market that is fully tweaked and properly amped deserve their good reputations.

Although, truth be told, I'm going to be a very sad camper if I ever buy Fulcrum, NEXO, d&b, Meyer, and maybe two others. What am I going to do with my spare time? Make money or something? Yuck.

Langston, can you elaborate (in other words what have you done to correct for this?)... What kind of power should you (we) be throwing at the low band... I had a guy the other day compliment that my 730's had more "balls"than most that he has mixed on... I'm just using stock UX presets (4-8 boxes), and LAB G 10Q power (3 boxes per pair of amp channels) - only own 6 boxes per side..., but I too felt it could use even more low band. Also part two to this is... I changed the UX to be set for 2100 watts at 4ohms ( what I believe the lab g to be)... it seems the processor is clamping down on the limiting before the amp is "fully "throttled out on the LEDS"... lab is set to 32db as well... Any suggestions on where to tweak?

The 730 limiters are soft on the UX. It's easy to rail them. I'd be interested to see what processor adjustments you (Langston) cooked up. Also I am not sure where you are coming from with the "740's are for girls" comment, the 740 is a beast!

Amen! And not only speakers. Especially some of the small-company operators out there who have spent a career squeezing the last drop of performance out of a limited gear investment budget have discovered some suprising and very smart "features" of the gear that isn't exactly printed in the manuals :)

Perhaps a separate thread if someone is inclined?
