eaw la118 tell me about it

I have been using some eaw sb150 subs for weddings & small gatherings. Am thinking of picking up some la118 subs for a decent price. Not to be used together but as an alternate rig in case of double booking or a blown driver in one set.
Any opinions on these subs? Pros / Cons?

Built like a brick shithouse. Sound pretty good after processing but don't get terribly loud.

My experience is with the LA128 which is the dual version of this. If you don't need rock levels then they work well. I enjoy using them.

I had 4 of the 118s for almost 12 years. Never replaced a driver in them. Give them the right power and processing and you will be golden. Those boxes call also take the abuse of the road, very well built.

Just going by memory they had the typical "too small of a box" falling response. So I probably crossed around 100 and cut some 80 and boosted some 40-50 to extend the response. I remember that once you got it right, they sounded really good and tight.

I ran the 128s with a bridged PLX3102 and was not happy. Moved to the RMX 4050 bridged and they came alive.

They are built like tanks. I had some of the 128s and I used a powerlight 6.0 and a driverack and they were great.

At one point I was running a QSC MX 3000 into mine. I was happy with it overall.
