Economical power amp channel density

So, for the past 6 years or so I have had a bi-amp setup for my QRX212s that has worked real well for me.
I have a Sabine NAV480 that I take the 2 mains inputs and split each to a pair of outputs with all appropriate crossover, eq and delay settings.
These outputs go to a QSC PLX1602 for the HF and a pair of QSC PLX3402s for the LF. Oh, the wiring is for 2 pair of QRX so, when I use the second pair, the HF just gets added to the 1602 (the power is perfect) and the second 3402 powers the LF.

Well, I have had occasion to want to run 4 channels through the rig sometimes like for example a Dual PA setup, or use the second pair as stage fills etc.
Since I only have 6 channels of amps in the rack, that has meant running one pair full range and rewiring in the amp rack to do it.

So, I decided I would like to add 2 more amp channels. The hitch? I am outta rack space in my rack so I either need some 1U amps that can substitute for the PLX1602 or a 4 channel 2U. I am looking for 300 watts per channel at 8 ohms and compatible gain structure with the QSC amps (vs Crown).

I know Powersoft and LAB have solutions but are WAY out of my price range. Used (previously broken in) is fine.

Suggestions?

Re: Economical power amp channel density

Why not just buy a bigger rack?
Well, cause I don't want to. Ok, 14U is big enough but really, buying another rack and amp is going to cost a bundle.

I am thinking of simply building another rack for 2 speaker cabs and moving one 3402 over to it and getting another 1602. See marketplace in the other forum.

But for the short term, a 4ch or pair of 1U amps would do nicely.
The Carvin looks promising but I need to check the gain. I don't want to change all the DSP programs if I don't have to.

Hi Rob,

You say Powersoft is out of the price range, just checking to make sure that includes the new M series... Pretty good bang for buck right there! A couple of 4 ch models and 3 x 2 ch amp models, all 1RU.

Cheers!

Do you know something we don't? Because the M series looks to be on par price-wise with the iTechs. Not what I would consider "affordable".
