I have a question about the flyware on EV QRX cabinets.

There are tracks on the tops of the cabs and I have clips with rings on them for flying should I want to.

What I want to do is fasten something to the top of the cabinet and I am looking for something that will attach to the fly track and let me bolt to it.

What are these tracks called?

Let me be clear - I am NOT suspending anything so please no lectures on flying.

My ultimate goal is to make a bracket that when ground stacked, I can fasten the tops of 2 cabinets together at the proper angle thus permitting someone other than myself to set the proper angle - ie; delegate some of the set up.

It's L-track. It's meant for strapping/securing/flying, not bolting, so I doubt you'll find something that allows it.

Are you trying to set splay, or are you stacking cabinets on top of each other? If setting splay, cut a triangle out of wood and tell your help, "This fits between the speakers."

Double Stud Fitting w/ Bolt Thread for L-Track - Occupant Restraint Components

By tying the tops together, it will be more stable when strapped down. Since the cabs are trapezoids and proper splay has some space between the fronts, the straps tend to change the splay, thus loosening the straps too. I can attach the wedge to the connection so it doesn't move either.

I think if you make a rigid frame connecting 2 of those fittings on the track, you're going to have a very hard time connecting and disconnecting the frame since both would have to be pulled and slid at once. Especially if both speakers are rigid (since they're heavy, they are), you'd have to find a way to slide the frame on just one speaker and disconnect that one first, then do the other.

So while it may theoretically work, I don't think it would be possible in reality. Also, the frame you would make would have to not block the pull so it could be unlatched. Not an easy task because of the way the track is oriented on the speaker.

My thought was to inset the L-Track parts then use thumbscrews to attach the frame. No sliding needed.
I shall experiment to see if it can work.

I got the L-track parts and loaded them in the tracks. 2 in each track (ie; 2 each speaker). I had thought to get some threaded rod and put short lengths into the track sockets (threadlocked) and then just spin a wingnut or knob down on them. That got foiled when I could not find 3/8-24 wing nuts at the hardware store. So, I got some proper sized bolts.

I cut some 3/4" ply to 34x12 and set up the boxes to the splay I wanted. A few measurements later I drilled a few holes and bolted it down to the speakers.
I then cut a wedge to fit, glued and screwed it in place. A little sanding and the paint is drying as I write this.

I plan to look on line for some threaded knobs or wingnuts to fit and will try that out but I need them this weekend. I got fender washers to take the bearing weight and plan to drill them so I can screw the washers to the wood.

I will post some pics after I get them painted.

I made up the boards and used them on a gig. I had to use bolts to put them on the speakers as that was all that was available (see above).
They worked pretty good but there were a few issues. The first photo shows the boards as originally made.

There were two minor but annoying issues. One was that it was awkward to align the bolt holes and start the bolts. The second was that the board (platform) was not level on top of the speakers. Neither was a show stopper. See photo 2 shows them in use.

So, I ordered some threaded knobs from McMaster Carr and picked up a length of threaded rod at the hardware store and changed from bolts to knobs.
That helped. I then added some feet so that the board put the flyware into tension and made for a rock steady platform. I added some rubber to the bottom of the feet to protect the finish on the speakers. I used the stuff that Audiopile ships with cases. See photos 3 & 4.

I don't need 2 per side for the next few events but they are all set for when I need them.
