Anyone using Google+?
Pretty barebones still, but seems like it could become the anti Facebook, maybe?

I've signed up but only know 1 person on it. I like the ability to say different thing s to different groups of people, instead of everyone.
that can be done on Facebook.. you can make groups I think it's called, and when you post you can select which group you want to talk to..I've signed up but only know 1 person on it. I like the ability to say different thing s to different groups of people, instead of everyone.
Jason,
That's because you are looking at the general 'news feed' rather than specific groups you created (you did, didn't you?) As is always, it is what you make it.
I'm on G+. Really don't see any point of it yet. There is no easy way to find people (unless you know exactly who you're looking for) nor is there any kind of community pages to meet other people/find new interests. I see it now as twitter with an extended profile.
That said, I'm on there if anyone wants to search for me.

No, and if it's anything like MyFace and SpaceBook, IMNSHO it's a shiny blingy thingy to get people to allow advertisers and even less scrupulous folks to get insights into one's private life that would astound them.
This whole concept of "social networking" is utter BS. It's a way to "meet" people on the shallow levels, and to pimp oneself. If you don't actually deal with people in a face to face way, they are not and cannot be genuine friends.
/bah, humbug.

Yes, in application that pretty much sums how it turned out. But to play devils advocate, technology is neither good nor evil but a tool for us to utilize. Similar complaints could have been made for telephone technologies (removes the soul of writing letters, strangers can call you at inconvenient times, etc...) but the technology kept right on trucking and permeated our lives to the point that imagining not having telephones is quite difficult.
I think we'll see a similar progression in "social networking" to other technologies that allow us communicate across the world. Once the shiny and new wears off, and the silliness sinks in, it will be just another method for communication and involvement with other people. No more or less interesting than calling or emailing or what have you.
I just hope the spelling habits of the "texting generation" aren't here to stay. The over abbreviated nonsense drives me crazy. I hate the idea that we'll just change the dictionary, 'cause ppl 4got hw 2 spel.
