Re: Growler and other subs Matt I think you have it the other way around. There are only a "hand full" of people out there that didn't enjoy it. The Growlers debut at a Prosoundweb shootout back in 2007 there was a couple of dozen people that heard and enjoyed the Growler. Most everyone that has heard a properly operating, properly setup Growler has enjoyed them. Side by side tests conducted by forum meets have proving the Growler has more output and lower distortion within the horns operating rate than the SRX718. The advantage of the fold horn subwoofers is throw and lower distortion. The disadvantage of the horn is increased distortion below the horns operating range however the lower in frequency the less sensitive humans are to tonality. This means lower distortion where we are more sensitive but more distortion where we are less sensitive. Some people may of dismissed the Growler simply because they didn't full read or understand the specs. The original Growler was +/-1db 46hz-110hz: However, it had that same -10db as its competitors such as the SRX718 (35hz) and it you look at a +/-3db window (6db) the Growler's lowend cut off was 39hz. The entire history, specs, graphs and data is on JTR's forum. The thread is under "announcements and news" and titled "Growler subwoofer from the beginning" One of the best things about the Growler is it's reliability. Of the hundreds of Growlers there have only been a small amount of failures ever and since the introduction of the higher powerhandling version in 2010 there have only been less than a hand full to ever failure. This is thanks to an extremely well build, made in the USA driver and cabinet. There will be Growlers are the shootout this Monday in Indianapolis, Nov 19th 2012.
