When using handles like this on a subwoofer, is there a reason to build a chamber behind the handle to seal it off from the internal air in the box or is the handle rigid enough to "see" the internal air in the box?

I've seen both solutions, and I've never experienced any issues with handles that I'm aware of as long as there is an airtight seal around them.

Re: Handles

Internal pressures are nowhere near great enough to deform these steel handles. But use a gasket. Please always a gasket, if only a thin bead of RTV.

The manufacturers also offer a calculation of internal volume displaced by the handle. This can be significant on larger sub designs with 4/8/10 handles, and influence tuning.
