I "pre-squash" my live broadcast mixes with a multi-band comp to avoid the Opti-squash at the station. Seems a bit better that way, but it might be my imagination.

I tried that a time or two but it ended up sounding like opti-squash pre-squash squis-squash. After that I just sent it out uncompressed to the radio stations and let their compressors do their thing and hoped for the best.
