Hi this is my first post and wondered if anyone can help me. Firstly I am not a sound engineer just lead singer but I am part of a 12 piece soul band and we have acquired this SI Expression 2 mixing desk .
Our sound guy say's it not possible to get any reverb through our monitors so when on stage we have a very flat sound we hear back at us.

Firstly is it possible to get reverb through our monitors use the above desk ? If so please could you explain how (simply please!!) so I can take your answer to our sound guy.

Also if reverb is not attainable is it possible to get more presence in the mix ? I understand using EQ gets a warmer sound but that's not what I am looking for . The sound at front of house is amazing but I just would like some of the house sound to be on stage also .

Please can anyone help

Glen :)))

Re: Help with SI Expression 2

Hi Glen,
1st possible, 2nd simple. To get verb into a specific monitor mix simply select that mix, then once in the sends on fader mode for that mix navigate to the fader the reverb is assigned too. For example if the reverb is on layer B fader 12. You would select mix 1 then select layer B, and lastly raise fader 12 until the amount of effect in achieved.

Jeff is correct. What may be confusing your soundman is that when in the sends on fader mode for that mix, the faders for effects will not be glowing blue as they normally would, but they still work as normal.

Re: Help with SI Expression 2

Glen, the reverb and other FX "return" on the "Aux Input and FX" layer. Sending reverb or any FX return is done just like sending a regular input to a monitor - select the reverb return channel and turn up the Mix send knob associated with the MONITOR MIX you want to send the reverb to. That's it. I suspect your mixerperson knows how but is reluctant to do so for a variety of reasons. Remember that monitors are so the band & singers can hear each other for cue, rhythm and pitch, not so much to replicate the audience experience.
