I was thinking about buying Amazon.com: Onkyo HT-S5400 7.1-Channel Home Theater System (Old Version): Electronics

That Unit right there... But, I currently have 2 of these speakers A Penny Saved Is A Penny Earned: Fisher DS-826 Speakers

Hooked up to a very old JVC reciever from the 80's. If, I buy that new boxed set, should I use my old speakers as the 2 main speakers or the back speakers for the 7.1 surround sound, or just not bother with them at all anymore? They put out some amazing bass.

Surround speakers don't really need to be matched, if the old speakers sound better, use them for mains.
You can use the other pair as extension speakers in another room.

Is it snowing in Ely yet :^)?
