I don't speak spanish, but WTF?!?

Re: I don't speak spanish, but WTF?!?

Since one cannot hear an entire venue at once, I don't see how this system replaces prediction software.

Hello Silas,

I never implied that one wouldn't need prediction software....where did you glean that from? Never even mentioned software... I only pointed out the obvious, that the angles of the individual boxes can be changed via some hydraulic system. Which could be a handy feature.

Ah, Hammer, apologies for the confusion. I meant to reply to the OP while quoting you as well.

Since I didn't 'get' the video since it's in another language, I naturally assumed (always a bad idea, right?) that it was intended to allow a tech to manually set array angles after the array was flown. Which, of course, won't really work because that tech can only hear one point at a time.

After I saw an English version of the video, I realize now that the array works hydraulically with software to angle itself. So, yes, it might be pretty cool! Except I'm not sure the added complexity is really worth it? Time will tell...

Re: I don't speak spanish, but WTF?!?

If some idiot climbed your stack of subs you could use it to catapult him into the nose bleed seats.
Back in my younger days of audio (the 80's), I did climb on top of my own stacks and use a mic stand and poked it in peoples faces when they tried to climb on top of the stacks and use them as diving platforms.

It then turned into a kinda "king of the hill" type thing. I always won!

Yes that is TRUE! But usually only on the punk and thrash/speed metal shows.

The Jazz and country shows were not a problem.

Re: I don't speak spanish, but WTF?!?

Am I the only one that thinks this is a little clever?

It looks to me as if the entire array is one piece of plastic (plexi, maybe) and the elements are all self-enclosed and mounted to it. The Curvature of the array is changed with the little hydraulic cylinder and pump.

Not saying it's not flawed, the bend in the plastic would have to be controlled, but it looks like the metal bracket in the front help with that.

It's not perfect, and I can't say it looks all that nice or how it'll sound live. But it is clever.

Re: I don't speak spanish, but WTF?!?

Pretty neat concept.
They need some sort of box on the back to protect the innards (but still allow the flex)
