I am really not a fan of threaded view until a topic gets a couple of pages long with several sub threads. I just noticed that it is possible to change between the three views without mucking around in the global settings just by using the pull down that is at the top right of each thread where it says display.
Switch for the long ones, and switch back when done. Painless.
