One of my favorite live sound gigs was on an old Behringer board with some dual 15 Yorkville mains and a mishmash of miscellaneous other low end stuff. It sounded absolutely fantastic, and I give 90% of the credit to the band, who were just incredible seasoned performers (who have gone on to be fairly successful producers). When you work with great performers who sound amazing at the source, it can make things sooooooo easy and enjoyable.The secret to happy sound gigs is to find those great performers and hold on tight to them once you do. You'll have a better time, and even though you'll find it easier, you'll end up with more compliments and recognition than you'd ever get from 1000 gigs of using every trick in the book to polish musical turd. This is exactly how many big names in the industry got to be big names - schmoozing 101 - if you want to be successful, hang out with the talented and successful people.
